Consider this distinction:
Good advice is always good information, but good information is not always good advice.
Most, if not all, small growth companies are driven by a leader with vision, passion and total commitment. Often, though, leadership is a lonely enterprise. Sounding boards are family, friends and those contracted to give “explicit advice.”
In that category, place your CPA, Insurance Agent and Attorney.
In other words, expertise that often has a yes or no answer. Your CPA, for example, might tell you that you must file on a certain form.
No “gray” areas here.
Good judgement does not have a right or wrong answer.
Over three years, MARKETPLEX has worked with clients to develop corporate Advisory Boards and more informal groups of Advisors for small growth businesses. The step by step process of recruiting, training, compensating and utilizing advisors is fairly straightforward.
The keys to success are more subtitle.
Attracting top notch advisors has everything to do with non monetary compensation. If you put a “bottom line” on it….what personal or professional enrichment will each advisor get?
In this era of social media, personal contact can get lost. Much as we tried, good advice is more difficult to achieve by Email or even Yahoo Groups. Facebook is not face time.
Chemistry important?
You betcha!
Marketplex provides expertise throughout the process. That includes structure and recruiting with ongoing evaluation.
